Abstract

Virtual Reality display system demands for extremely high definition, PPI and brightness, which may cause huge power consumption and affect system performance negatively based on traditional LCD. Relatively, RGB field sequence display provides an implementable method for LCD modules to achieve a better light transmittance by removing the color film and a higher aperture ratio by setting the RGB LED as backlight, which can lead to higher PPI, light efficiency and lower power consumption. To this end, we proposed a VR system based on field sequences display, in which the System Driving Unit, Display Module Unit, and Media Processing Unit were designed and implemented completely. As a result, an exquisite virtual reality world can be presented to its user smoothly, with the appropriate driving strategy and effective RGB field sequence display module.
