Abstract

In this work, a novel active pixel sensor (APS) based on photodiode (PD)‐gated thin‐film transistor (TFT) is integrated under active matrix organic light‐emitting diode (AMOLED) display for optical fingerprint imaging. The optical design and simulation were presented to evaluate the light intensity reaching the sensor and the optical crosstalk between adjacent pixels was assessed based on diffraction simulation results. The analytical modelling along with measurement results of PD‐gated LTPS TFT were also reported. Our study shows that PD‐gated TFT under AMOLED can enable under‐display optical fingerprint sensing.
