Abstract

Carbonaceous nanospheres anchored with PtxNiyCoz alloy nanoparticles (PtxNiyCoz /CA) was obtained by a two-step hydrothermal approach. Multiple characterizations confirmed that oxygen functionalized groups on the surface of the carbonaceous sphere could deeply anchor the PtxNiyCoz alloy nanoparticles, which prevented the further growth of alloy particles and formed a stable interface between the alloy particle and carbonaceous supporter. Accordingly, as-prepared PtxNiyCoz/CA electrode exhibited superior electro-catalytic performance in multiple electrochemical reactions, including MOR, ORR, and OER, due to the optimal interfacial effect.
