Abstract

Abstract A new series of mixed-ligands complexes of oxovanadium(IV) of the general composition [VO(L 1 )(L 2 )(H 2 O)], where L 1 H=4-benzoyl-3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazoline-5-one (bmppH), L 2 H=acetoacetanilide (aaH), o -acetoacetotoluidide ( o -aatdH), o -acetoacetanisidide ( o -aansH), methylacetoacetate (macacH), ethylacetoacetate (eacacH) or dibenzoylmethane (dbmH) have been synthesized by the interaction of vanadyl sulphate pentahydrate and the said ligands in aqueous-ethanol medium. The resulting complexes have been characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, vanadium determination, molar conductance and magnetic measurements, thermogravimetric analysis, cyclic voltammetry, infrared, electron spin resonance and electronic spectral studies. Suitable octahedral structures have been proposed for these complexes. The 3D molecular modeling and analysis for bond lengths and bond angles have also been carried out for one of the representative compounds, [VO(bmpp)(aa)(H 2 O)] (1) .
