Abstract

Medium-temperature coal pitch is oxidized to enlarge the molecules and increase the softening temperature. Pitch melt air bubbling is used for oxidizing in the coke-chemical industry. For the functional materials manufacture dispersion and oxidation hardening is used to produce fibers or fine micron-sized powders. Even more subtle dispersion is achieved in the pitch melt distribution on the surface of the graphite foam in the preparation of a self sintered material, its density and mechanical properties is similar to artificial graphite [1]. Material has a layered sintered structure of pitch coke and graphite foam bubble walls. The oxidized pitch coke film thickness is below 40 nm. The structure of pitch coke is not graphitized. It contains a fullerene-like and global structure. Therefore, it is of interest to investigate the structuring of coal tar pitch in thin films after oxidizing
