Oxidative decarbonylation of transition metal carbonyls by arsenic selenide anions: preparation and structures of [M(CO)2(As3Se3)2]2- and [M(AsSe5)2]2- (M = molybdenum, tungsten)

Abstract

The reactions of arsenic selenide anionic clusters with M(CO), (M=Mo, W) were investigated and the products characterized by IR and 77 Se NMR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction of bis (n-Bu) 4 N + salts in each case. The reaction of As 4 S 6 2- , with M(CO), generates [M(CO) 2 (As 3 Se 3 ) 2 ] 2- (I) in reasonable yield
