Abstract

RATIONALE: It has been shown that NAD(P) H oxidase in ragweed pollen extracts (RWE) generates oxidative stress in the airway epithelium and this oxidative insult is essential for the robust antigen-driven airway inflammation. In this study we aimed to determine whether mitochondrial respiratory chain (MRC) proteins were oxidatively damaged by ROS generated by pollen NAD(P) H oxidases and if this damage could exacerbate allergic airway inflammation.
