Abstract
1. 1. In the presence of iminodiacetate vanadyl complexes fixed on silica or alumina, combined liquid-phase oxidation and epoxidation of cyclohexene takes place. 2. 2. The process proceeds by a heterogeneous-homogeneous radical-chain mechanism with autoacceleration on account of the cyclohexenol and cyclohexenyl hydroperoxide accumulated in the system. 3. 3. The texture of the supports used has a greater effect on the distribution of active centres (iminodiacetate vanadyl complexes) on the surface of the catalysts than the nature of the supports. This leads to a certain difference in the activity and selectivity of the catalysts in the combined process.
