Abstract

The circularly polarized (CP) UHF RFID tag antenna attracts extensive attention among the ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) antenna since there is a good polarization matching with the CP reader. Consequently, farther radiation rang and the higher flexibility and reliability are given to UHF RFID system when the antennas are circularly polarization. Some examples of design of CP radiation in UHF RFID tag antennas are mainly introduced in this paper in recent years. At the same time, according to their characteristics, the common design structures of several UHF RFID CP tag antennas are summarized. For example, utilizing square or circular ring microstrip line, using perturbation structures like truncated patch or rectangular groove on a microstrip patch, and dipoles structures can achieve CP radiation. The design method is discussed based on the radiation performance, and the advantages and disadvantages of their structures were analyzed.
