Abstract
Overview of the 2018 Inclusion in Science, Learning a New Direction, Conference on Disability (ISLAND)
Highlights
The first was a heartwarming keynote address by Michael Hingson, blind physicist and World Trade Center survivor
Mr Hingson told his story of survival on September 11, 2001 and how he as a totally blind person, along with his guide dog Roselle, helped numerous others escape the World Trade Center back on that tragic day
His use of problem solving skills along with his blindness skills training played huge dividends on that infamous day. His story is immortalized in his New York Times best-seller list book titled, “Thunder Dog.”
