Abstract

Abstract Clean water is a vital element in humankind’s ecosystem for sustainability of living on earth. Limitation of surface water in Kelantan leads toward ground water extraction as an alternative for water supply. However, there are issues and challenges with the current practice including water quality index (WQI), pollution and monitoring of capacity extraction for ground water. Thus, the objective of this paper is to summary the current scenario of ground water extraction in Kelantan. Hence, identify the potential problems that occur based on current practice and look forward for potential ground water extraction in Kelantan in future. This finding is extracted from previous study done by other researchers, or any electronic media related to the objective of the paper. Due to limited source of indexed paper, Google, official related agencies website and ResearchGate are being adopted as main platforms for search engines for data and literature needed. It is hoped that these findings would be able to help authority and relevant parties to improve the framework and government policy for groundwater extraction in Kelantan. It is also viewed to help Kelantanese to have better ground water supply as stipulated by Ministry of Health.
