Abstract
This paper presents a design of overflow-free realizations for linear time-invariant digital filters. Under a sufficient condition for no-overflow, the noise gain from the quantization error to the filter output is minimized to obtain an overflow-free realization. A numerical example is provided to see the advantage of our design over the conventional design.
