Abstract

Denmark has found that overcladding existing high‐rise buildings in brickwork behind new insulation has practical advantages. It has led to the development of a special wall tie for the purpose and a recommended ‘staggered’ method of working, completing one storey height at a time; this gives better control and minimises mortar droppings fouling the insulation. The technique is described here by a member of the Danish Building Research Institute.
