Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of implementation of the overall nursing care to unpaid blood donors,to improve the blood donation service quality,reduce blood donation adverse reactions,expanding and stabilizing unpaid blood donors team.Methods During the process of reception,examination,and blood collection,the unpaid blood donors were given psychological care and nursing care against blood donation adverse reactions.A retrospective analysis was carried out to compare the effects of holistic nursing care given to 34 454 unpaid blood donors from January 2011 to December 2011 in our station,with those 32 503 without holistic nursing care from January 2010 to December 2010 in our station.Results After the implementation of the overall nursing care,the number of voluntary blood donors increased 1557 people (6%),fixed donors increased 1951 people (38.8%),the number of blood donors with donation of 300 ~ 400 ml had increase of 9.9%; blood donation adverse reactions decreased by 0.5%; the two groups had lower significant difference (P<0.05).Conclusions Implementation of targeted and systematic overall nursing care to unpaid blood donors,can expand the group of unpaid blood donors in our city,promote voluntary blood donors with sustained and healthy development,which is a road to accelerate the development of the city blood collection.
