Abstract

Background: Ultra-high-dose radiotherapy and chemotherapy before hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) will seriously damage ovarian function, resulting in premature ovarian insufficiency and poor quality of life. The most common indication of HSCT is hematonosis such as leukemia. However, it is often ignored that HSCT is also an effective therapy for some rare diseases such as some immune deficiency diseases. Therefore, medical practitioners should pay attention to the fertility preservation of patients with rare diseases who need HSCT. In this case, the girl with HIES needed HSCT because of the lung infection that could not be alleviated by antibiotics. Ovarian tissue cryopreservation was performed before HSCT which has successfully protected fertility.
