Abstract

The paper develops an equation for the prediction of the output of a linear time-invariant multivariable system that is based on process past inputs and outputs. To demonstrate that the output-prediction equation is a realistic model of process dynamics, a derivation is included to establish the inputs necessary to generate a minimum-time deadbeat response. A computer simulation study illustrates the applications to a 4th-order process.
