Abstract

The output power of a cw 337-μm HCN laser is maintenance-freely stabilized by a feedback control aided by a microcomputer. As a result, the laser power has no observable drift in the long term and its fluctuation in the short term is less than ±1%. This stabilizing method is especially useful when the laser is used in circumstances where the ambient temperature changes severely.
