Abstract

This article surveys the literature on the lack of utilization of government document collections and discusses and evaluates the need for increased awareness among faculty, students, and the general public of their value. It describes the results of the efforts of the staff of the Government Documents Department of Joyner Library of East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina in preparing a series of displays of government documents. An outgrowth of this effort was a series of bibliographies designed to aid those involved with government documents in their efforts to increase awareness of their collections and services.
