Abstract

The aim of the article is to present and explain the problem of a single person in the social welfare system. The statutory definition of a single person indicates that there must be three conditions in total: living alone, not being married and not having ascendants or descendants to be considered a single person. In the article, I analyze whether the state and the local community are obliged to help single people. I present various forms of assistance provided by organizational units of social assistance to single people so that they do not feel isolated or excluded. Key words: lonely person, law, assistance, social welfare
