Abstract

Relative oscillator strengths for 33 neutral yttrium (Y i) transitions between 2723 and 4761 Å have been measured by the hook method. The data have been analyzed and placed on an absolute scale by using a numerical procedure developed by Cardon, Smith, and Whaling and the published absolute lifetimes of Beer, and Andersen, Ramanujam, and Bahr. The z2F5/2° level lifetime of Beer is found to be in error. The absolute lifetime of the level y2P3/2° is determined to be 36 ± 4 ns. The total uncertainties in the absolute oscillator strengths are between 9% and 14%.
