Abstract

This article proposes a protection scheme/method based on oscillation frequencies of current in ring type DC microgrid (DCMG). The proposed method modifies the differential current algorithm in presence of high di/dt, high fault resistance and during light load condition, etc. A differential protection scheme which is based on the differences between current component of respective oscillation frequency measured at both the end of line section, is proposed to detect and isolate the faults. The 96V DCMG having ring configuration and its proposed protection scheme is implemented and simulated using MATLAB/Simulink environment, modelled to operate in an islanded mode.
