Abstract
Synchronous belts are widely used in various industrial equipments as a power transmission element. In the synchronous belt, the glass-fiber helical cord is inserted as the tension member. The main fracture mode during the belt driving is considered to be the bending fatigue of the glass-fiber helical cord. In addition, reduction of tensile strength of the belt in oil condition is larger than that in dry condition. In this study, the effect of oil for the cord is examined. Especially, bending stiffness of the cord was measured and the internal section of the test piece was observed to evaluate the fatigue failure accumulation under dry and oil environments.
