Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discuss the Social Security Counter-Reform, PEC 6/2019, approved through EC 103/2019. This counter-reform, which removes the rights of the working class, through changes in the current Social Security model. The question to be problematized is: Is the Social Security problem the achievement of longevity by Brazilians? Will they have to be penalized? This is a bibliographic, documentary, and qualitative approach study. The results show that the rules instituted in this process divide the opinions of the Brazilian population, however, the fact is that the Brazilian people are aging, as revealed by the survey conducted in 2018 by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics – IBGE, which points to a population with more elderly than young people in 2060. However, penalizing and attributing the great problems of the Brazilian nation to the elderly is nothing more than, once again, removing the right from the elderly population, who worked hard to build this Brazil, retirement, and respect for the achievement of their longevity.
