Abstract
Res_eng:Archestratus of Gela creates his cookery poem using elements from several sources. The synthesis of heterogeneous elements gives as a result an original work, about whose genetic origin neither the old nor the new criticism has reached an agreement. In this paper we will try to determine Achestratus’ debt to the earlier literary tradition as well as his originality in the creation of new vocabulary by studying hapax legomena.
