Abstract

The origin of the locally unacceptable and intensive tonal 2f=100 Hz emission from overhead high voltage lines has been clearly traced by means of multiple diagnostics applied to a model line in the laboratory. Use of a special hydrophilic surface preparation has demonstrated a significant reduction of tonal acoustic noise emission after heavy rain.
