Abstract

My view in this position paper is based on results of a joint study with group members of Network Integration Laboratory at NTT Telecommunication Networks Laboratories (NTT Multimedia Networks Laboratories at the present time). These members have focus issues on organizational knowledge propagation in an organization for many years. To cope with these issues they developed a prototype know-how management system FISH in early 1991. FISH stands for Flexible Information Sharing and Handling system. Later GoldFISH which stands for Group Oriented Long-term Distribution with FISH, was developed in 1994.The joint study focused analysis on user behavior and content flux through FISH and GoldFISH. We recognize the importance of promoting organizational knowledge sharing based on these analytical results. This position paper describes a summary of the results from the joint study and my view about how organizational knowledge sharing should be promoted.
