Abstract

We have fabricated organic thin films with biphenyl-4, 4′-dithiol by molecular beam deposition method and characterized them by FT-IR and X-ray diffraction method. It was found that the molecular long axis stands on the substrates and that the molecules can be deposited on a KBr single crystal and an evaporated gold thin film with thiol end-group. It was also indicated that the quasi-matching of lattice constants helps the improving of crystallinity of organic thin films.
