Abstract

A general discussion of the historical background of the genus Vermiporella is presented and a diagnostic terminology suggested. Greater detail is added to the earlier descriptions of V. fragilis Stolley 1893 and V. wesenbergensis Moskalenko 1956 and two new species are described: V. acerosa and V. diffluens. The genus is described as having flourished during Lower Ordovician and as having extended no farther than Middle Silurian.--F.M. Hueber.
