Abstract
ABSTRACTIntermediate ordered-defect fluorite compounds are an important component of ZrO2 alloys containing the aliovalent solutes MgO, CaO, or Y2O3. These compounds also form in oxygen-deficient rare earth oxides and in other ternary oxides based on the fluorite structure, and can best be studied by TEM. Examples are given of such phases in the MgO-ZrO2, Y2O3-ZrO2, and CaO-ZrO2 systems.
