Abstract
This study describes a mixed approach that combines the stability equation (SE) approach and a modified Routh approximation (RA) to approximate higher-order interval systems. Here, the numerator parameters of a reduced order system (ROS) are calculated using the modified RA approach, whereas the denominator coefficients are estimated using the SE method. This hybrid methodology is straightforward and guarantees the stability of the diminished system if the real system is stable. To illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method, some numerical examples are provided.
