Abstract

This article presents and discusses the use of low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants in low temperature Organic Rankine Cycle for power generation using waste heat. The performance has been compared at low waste heat temperatures to current refrigerants and low GWP ones. In this article, energy and exergy analyses have been also presented and compared for the behaviour of the different refrigerants in question. Results showed that the use of low GWP refrigerants results in reduction of waste heat recovery efficiency with more exergy destruction compared to higher GWP working fluids.
