Abstract

We examine two methods for determination of blast energy of optoacoustic (OA) transients generated in air during laser ablation of solids. The methods are based on detection of the transients by a laser beam deflection probe and time domain analysis of the detected signals in terms of the solution of the point explosion model. The aim of this study is to show that blast energy and OA energy conversion efficiency are the parameters which could enable the comparison of optoacoustical data acquired during different ablation processes.
