Abstract

Abstract. The clinical case of a patient who applied for an appointment regarding the selection of a method of contraception after a medical abortion was studied. Anamnetically, the patient had symptoms caused by the withdrawal of estrogens when taking combined oral contraceptives (COCs) and also with a physiological decrease in the level of estrogens during the menstrual cycle without the use of combined oral contraceptives. After consulting a neurologist, a migraine-like disorder was diagnosed as a "Headache caused by the withdrawal of estrogens", and a gynecologist's consultation was recommended to choose a method of contraception that does not give this complication. The study of this clinical case demonstrated the possibility of optimizing the management tactics of patients with headache caused by the withdrawal of estroneens by using the drug claira for contraception. This drug has a dynamic dosing regimen, which provides for a gradual decrease in the estrogenic component in combination with a gradual increase in the dosage of progestin and a subsequent short hormone-free interval (BGI), lasting only two days. An additional advantage is that a short BGI helps to maintain a stable level of estradiol and inhibits the development of follicles. This drug, having high contraceptive reliability, has also demonstrated high effectiveness in the occurrence of headaches caused by estrogen deficiency. Keywords. Headache, estrogen deficiency, clair, combined oral contraceptives.
