Abstract

In the terahertz range, materials are often characterized by a specific spectral response that contains unique resonant frequencies, which allows to detect and identify them very precisely. In this work, we have developed a new efficient calculating model that can be applied to identify the resonance frequencies of the material using terahertz time-domaine spectroscopy measurements in transmission mode. Furthermore, the PSO optimization algorithm is an extremely powerful tool that, once associated with our model, allowed us to quickly and accurately extract the optical characteristics of the material such as the absorption and the refractive index of the material. The performances of the proposed technique are very relevant particularly in the case of important noise.
