Abstract
This paper proposes a novel optimization approach to optimization of single channel cavity filter. The design principle of coaxial-cavity resonant filter is shown given band pass character of the filter. The characteristic of cavity filter is represented by the coupling distance constraint matrix of the cascading coaxial-cavity resonator. Particle swarm optimization algorithm is presented and the process of using it to optimize single channel coaxial-cavity resonator is proposed. In the optimization process, the objective is to minimize the volume of the cubic encircling the cavities subject to the constraint of coupling distance matrix. The number of parameter for a particle is determined based on the coupling distance constraint matrix. The optimization process is elaborated and optimized result is given. This method can find the desired result with 20 iterations.
