Abstract

The present study deals with investigating an optimized set of parameters of electric discharge machining which was used on D-2 die steel. The brass tool was taken in the study. D2 steel is used to make dies and tools as it contains considerable amount of compressive strength and hardness. In this work, current, pulse on time and pulse off time were considered as input parameters. The effects of these input parameters were observed on surface roughness of the workpiece. The experimental layout was formulated by Taguchi method and the effect of input parameters on output characteristic, here Surface Roughness, was analysed by ANOVA technique.
