Abstract

This paper presents a Taguchi based grey relational analysis methodology to find out the optimum process parameters that minimize the taper, heat affected zone, and maximize the MRR in a pulsed Nd:YAG laser micro-drilling on a novel polymer matrix composite introducing Graphite as filler materials. The input process parameters such as cutting speed, air pressure, lamp current and pulse width with five levels is used to conduct the experiments based on Taguchi’s L25 orthogonal array. Grey relational grades are calculated and used for determination of optimal process parameters and their effects on the output responses. The accuracy of the preservative model is demonstrated through the confirmation test.
