Abstract

The experimental investigation on the optimization of various process parameters were used in CNC lathe machine of SCM440 steel under dry conditions to get optimized parameter by Taguchi technique. Many industrial people are concerned about to enhance the quality of the manufactured items with feasible machining parameters. The input parameters, S/N ratio and ANNOVA were employed to find the optimal input variable with minimal surface roughness. Experimentation results were shown that the optimized value of the surface roughness observed by the feed rate 0.10 mm/rev, depth of cut 0.5 mm, cutting speed of 800 rpm in the combination of TiCN/Al2O3/TiN carbide tool with coated condition. The optimal value of surface roughness (Ra) for coated carbide tool is 0.2534 μm and for uncoated carbide tool is 0.5588 μm. Optimum results are finally verified with theoretical experiments.
