Abstract

Machining processes are a prevalent part of any manufacturing industry. However, despite its popularity and successful implementation in multiple applications, certain machining processes, like the cutting operation, suffer from increase in temperature of the working part and tool during the operation. The detrimental effects of increased temperature are currently rectified using non-ecofriendly wet coolants made of oil and water. In an attempt to provide a more environmentally friendly solution, this paper focuses on studying the use of cryogenic cooling for machining and the optimal set of machining parameters to be set for the implementation of the same have been studied using TOPSIS approach.
