Abstract
Abstract A method for the optimization of homogeneous reflecting waveguide lens systems by means of ray tracing is described. An approach for the automatic correct synthesis of the trial lens systems and a merit function, which provides very stable convergence of the optimization procedure, are used. The diffraction properties of the optimized lens systems, which can be prepared by double K+−Na+ and Ag+−Na+ ion-exchange in a common glass substrate, are studied numerically. The five-lens system optimized to focus a parallel beam has a very good off-axis performance over field angles up to 18°.
