Abstract

Abstract In this paper is determined the optimal power that is generated by the units in a microgrid (renewable energy sources) in order for the total cost at the load premises to be minimum. The microgrid is operated in combination with the main power grid. The optimization is performed for the whole day due to the fact that the power output of the renewable energy sources is highly predictable, considering the load power demand and the power supplied by the renewable energy sources. The optimization results give the optimal amount of power that the generating units will supply the load and the total cost during a day.
