Abstract

Optimism is the behavior of someone who tends to positively think. The nature of optimism is very important to be applied in every individual, especially for every Muslim, because the character of being kind and not giving up on the blessings of Allah are the characteristics of a believer. Everyone must face a difficult phase in his life, it only depends on how to handle it well. When faced with a problem humans tend to worry too much in terms of overcoming the problem, so that in the end many choose the short path in the wrong way through the process of abusing the faith or getting caught up in heretical teachings. However, the Qur'an is presented in our lives to serve as guidance in living our daily lives. Therefore, in this study, examples of optimism in the Qur'an are shown to be used as learning in life, namely the story of the Prophet Zakaria and Maryam where these two stories have in common. The formulation of the problem in this research is how the attitude of optimism shown in the story of Prophet Zakaria and Maryam in Al-Qu'ran and how the process faced by Prophet Zakaria and Maryam in facing the test. The type of research used is qualitative research using the maudhû'i (thematic) method. What can be found from this discussion Allah brought two examples from his pious servants, namely the Prophet Zakaria and Maryam in the Al-Qur'an. The trials of these two servants were so hard, but they managed to go through with optimistic attitudes, namely not giving up, having good thoughts, and not stopping from depending on hope and praying to Him. From another point of view, these two servants also have similar characteristics in tawasul, when they put Allah SWT. the best they depend on and they don't forget to show themselves as ubudiah (servitude).
