Abstract

On the basis of an analysis of the temperature field in a thermoplastic placed in the corresponding processing equipment, an examination is made of the problem of determining the optimum regime parameters for the high-frequency welding of plastics. It is shown that the optimum process parameters are those ensuring a comparatively narrow depth of the heat-affected zone. The optimum depth of the heat-affected zone is determined for cases of the high-frequency welding of specimens of polyamide and polyvinyl chloride.
