Abstract

Design & Optimization of Helical antenna by improving its gain and directivity is one of the important criteria in helical antenna design. The entire process of design and optimization can be divided into two stages, in which the first stage is devoted to derive the design parameters of the helical antenna from the governing equation. The first stage also consists of simulating and verifying the designed parameters using Matlab 2015a. In the Second stage the optimization process for the designed helical antenna is carried out for parameters like diameters of the ground plane, turns present in the antenna, and also the distance between the ground plate and bottom of helix for a set of frequencies. In the last phase we change the architecture of helical antenna to tapered end helical antenna and analyze and simulate using the software tool 4NEC2 (Numerical Electromagnetics Code).
