Abstract

In this paper, a framework for joint planning of photovoltaic (PV) based renewable distributed generation and battery storage system (BSS) for a distribution system including demand response (DR) is developed. The planning problem is formulated as a mixed integer second order conic programming to simultaneously minimize energy losses and maximize photovoltaic capacity that can be integrated in the distribution system. Simulations are conducted on 33-bus system to demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of proposed approach. The simulation results show that optimal allocation of PV and BSS in presence of DR leads to significant increment in energy saving and power that is injected by PV in distribution system.
