Abstract

One of the most issues related to solar energy is the variations in the availability of power production due to the intermittent nature of this source, Unfortunately, using a large capacity of batteries to store energy as compensation system to maintain the power balance between supply and demand are often costly, in addition, the problem of energy losses during the process of charging and discharging. The efficient scheduling for energy management in off-grid renewable energy system is an important aspect for conserve energy, limiting the problem of peak power consumption, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. In this paper, we present a scheduling strategy of household appliances using Particle Swarm Optimisation algorithm (PSO) for shaving the peak power demand of household appliances in off-grid energy system (PV, Diesel generator and batteries) by maximizing the using of solar energy when the power generation is high. The simulations of the optimization algorithm are performed in MATLAB. The simulation results of our scheduling strategy confirm the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach.
