Abstract

Technology now-a-days has taken a rapid progress in several areas of wireless communications. Modeling of wireless channels plays a key role in the design of communication systems. This paper gives the analysis of certain coding methods used for determining the reliability of wireless channels. Analysis of various Linear Block codes involved in channel coding is determined and an optimal block Code is implemented with different modulation techniques with data transmitted over various channels. The Bit Error Rate (BER) which is calculated for several block codes for a specific (N, K) values is found to be very low for RS code for high Signal to Noise ratio (SNR). By varying the values of `N' and `K' for RS code, an optimal code in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) versus Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) is found. The results showed that RS (255,223) is the optimal code. The performance for this optimal code in the presence of few fading channels using BPSK and QPSK modulation techniques is also determined by modeling the codec.
