Abstract

An optimal design of CMOS second generation current conveyor (CCII) using a hybrid nature inspired meta-heuristic algorithm called CS-PSO is presented here. It is the hybridization of Cuckoo Search (CS) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. CS-PSO is utilized for the optimal design of CMOS CCII to over-come the individual draw-backs associated with CS and PSO, respectively. The optimal sizing, i.e., width (W) and length (L) of a CMOS CCII is performed using CS-PSO. The simulation results presented for the circuit confirm that the CS-PSO is effective and an efficient optimization technique. CS-PSO is found to be much superior to those of GA (Genetic Algorithm), PSO, ACO (ant colony optimization) and GAPSO. From the presented optimized and simulation results, it is ensured that the CS-PSO satisfies all the design specifications and provides an improved results compared to those of the reported works. The optimized results are also verified by SPICE simulator using 0. 35 μm technology.
