Abstract

In this letter, we investigate an overlay cognitive satellite terrestrial network, where the secondary terrestrial network cooperates with the primary satellite network for spectrum access in a time splitting manner. To maximize the spectrum efficiency of such a cooperative cognitive network, we propose an optimal cooperative transmission scheme by optimizing the time splitting factors. Specifically, we firstly analyze the feasible range of time splitting factors to guarantee both transmission requirements of the satellite and terrestrial networks. On this basis, we decompose the non-concave optimization problem into several categories and employ the Charnes-Cooper transformation to determine the optimal time splitting factors.
