Abstract

The paper presents the solution of the task of optimal control of the angle of attack of a hypersonic flight vehicle (HFV) with minimum fuel consumption. Optimal control programs and flight paths of HFV are determined using the method called Pontryagins maximum principle. Optimal control of the angle of attack is expected to provide minimization of the HFV drag force in the supersonic speed range and the recoil from the dense atmosphere in the hypersonic speed range for the terminal flight path angle of over ten degrees.
